I have been a Dad since July 20th 2012 and it is without a doubt the thing I am most proud of and what drives me to be the best person I can be. It has been quite an education thus far and one that I know I am just on the tip of the ice burg.
When I’m not being called Dad, which is my favorite, I am often called my second favorite name which is coach. I have coached a bunch of youth basketball, some baseball, and a touch of football from grades 1st-8th. I took a little break when my daughter was born and am now back into it coaching high school track and cross country.
I am also an entrepreneur, and have been for most of my life. I started out by bringing back knock off sunglasses back from Mexico and selling them at a slight mark up in middle school. I currently help run the family construction business, home rental business, and my own consulting business. My wife and I had two hair salons in the past, I started and ran an event based nonprofit organization which led my partners and I to start a for profit screen printing business, and I was a part owner in a Pita Pit. I even tried my hand at a vending machine business in college selling mints, it did not go well but if anyone would like a mint machine or two I have some to sell!
Planning for retirement is something that I have been doing since high school only to realize that the journey is more fun than the destination and that I will probably never actually retire. As a result, learning about investing has become a passion. I have been investing in real estate since 2001 and is a big part of what I do. I buy, sell, flip, rent, manage, and consult. It is trying at times but it is something that I just can’t get enough of. I also dabble in other investments from the traditional to the unconventional.
Exercise and health, both physical and mental, are a big part of my life and have become even more important since I became a Dad. I want to be here for a long time and I want to be able to keep up. I work hard to stay in shape and eat healthy, not always successfully.
I have a BA in History with a minor in English and Psychology, yes I was going to teach. I also attended real estate school and no I never got my license.
Last but not least I am lucky to have been married since 2010. My wife has been my partner in crime both in business and real estate. She acts like everything is my idea but is often the instigator. She keeps me grounded and my ego in check.
